Hello World!

My name is GS187. My mom is Chief 187™ and my brother is ML187.

Today I start this blog to tell about my life, become a better writer, and have people comment on my work.

At school I have had to write a lot of essays this year. Now I feel I am ready to write a blog like my brother does.

There are many things I am interested in like art, Legos, and origami, the Japanese art of paper folding.

Ever since I was very young I have been good at art. I colored in the lines of my coloring books, I've copied favorite characters like Lego Batman, and I've taught myself how to do basically anything I set my mind to.

Currently I have been drawing the four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) from the 2014 movie of the same name.

Raphael is the turtle I draw the most because he is my favorite of the four turtles.

A few weeks ago I free-handed a picture of Raphael using pencil and colored pencils. It took me a few days to finish but I think it came out very well.

Before that drawing I did this one which I asked my mom to post on Facebook. I was so excited to come home from school and see how many comments and "Like"s my picture had. There were 81 "Like"s and 14 comments!

Legos are my favorite toys because I can build anything I imagine with them. Over the years I have received and built a ton of different sets from race cars that I would re-design to Hero Factory characters that I would create in my own way.

The sets I would like now are the new Ninjago sets for 2015 and the 2014 TMNT Lego sets.

Legos have been in my home for my entire life. My brother was playing with Legos when I was too young to go in the "Lego Room". I was far younger than the recommended age on the Lego boxes when my parents let me start playing and building with regular-sized Legos.

In the past two years I discovered origami when I took out a book from my school library about it. I asked my mom to help me make some of the paper art, but she just couldn't do it. So, I taught myself how to fold the paper into cool creations.

Now my house is filled with a bunch of paper art and there are tiny scraps that my dad calls "confetti" all over the place!

For Christmas 2014 I got at least 3 different packs of origami supplies. I have been a origami master since I made my ninja paper weapons: ninja stars, bo, sai, nunchaku, and swords!

This is just a few of the things I am interested in my life.

It would be awesome if you commented on my first blog.

Thank you for reading!

I'll have more blogs in the future.

GS 187 is an 8 year old third grader (in the most advanced 3rd grade class in his elementary school) living with his mom, dad, big brother, and little sister. He is an excellent student, artist, Lego builder, origami maker, swimmer, Cub Scout, karate student, and Little League member.

Writing this blog was GS 187's idea. His parents, of course, encourage him.

Comments are always welcome on each and every post as they encourage him to continue to write, better his work, and grow as a writer.

Just so you know I am a friend of your mom's and also a fan of her writing you cannot have a better person to have help you along. I look forward to your next Blog! Ray Shelton

  3. Great blog GS187! Hopefully, there won't be any more 'snow days' until next winter but don't let that stop you.
